This week I had the opportunity to participate at Cluj Innovation Days. This two day conference is organized by ClujIT and every year it seems that is bigger and bigger. I was impressed that this year more than 400 people attended this conference. The list of speakers was pretty impressive, a lot of big names from IT industry (especially from Google, Oracle). Yesterday we had in Cluj-Napoca the last Codecamp event of this year – Winter Codecamp . There were two session about SQL and NoSQL solutions on cloud (Microsoft Azure). The first session was about SQL Database as a service and what are the features that are no available. The second session was dedicated to NoSQL world and the new document database that is offered by Azure as a service – DocumentDB. At this event more than 90 people participate, that dedicated a full afternoon to SQL and NoSQL. This weekend in Cluj-Napoca we had the first hackathon based on public data offered by Cluj-Napoca City Hal l. There were a lot of public data that could be used to create different application. For example people had access to data related to parking slots, how European funds are used and so on. This event was organized by Cluster Cluj IT in collaboration with Microsoft Romania , Cluj-Napoca City Hall and hosted by City Hub . At this event I was invited as mentor and to be part of the jury. Last Saturday I participate to a Code Retreat . This event was part of the “Global Day of Code Retreat 2013” where over 2.200 people participate. The Cluj-Napoca event was organized by RABS in collaboration with Codecamp, Cluj.rb, Agile Works and Functional Programmers Cluj-Napoca. We had 5 rounds where we resolve the classic Code Retreat problem – The Game of Live. During this rounds I had the opportunity to exercise and learn new things not only related to TDD but also related to how you should approach a problem. I had the opportunity to resolve the problem in C#, Java, JavaScript and Typescript. The round that I enjoyed the most was the one where you could not to talk with your college. In a situations like this it is crucial to name your classes, methods and TEST UNIT methods very explicit and good. Yesterday I had the opportunity to participate at ITDays as a speaker. I had a 30 minutes session where I talked about Extension Points in Enterprise Application. It was pretty hard to put all the content that I want in a 30 minute session, because of this, I will try next days to come with 2-3 post related to this subject. These days I participated at ITCamp 2013 . This year I had the opportunity to participate at a premium event with almost 400 attendees. For Romania, this is big number, it is hard to gather 400 people at a premium conference. What we found this year? COOL stuff. We discover what is the future of tablets, what is happening on the cloud and the voodoo magic that is happening inside the team management... and so on. I really enjoyed the conference, the sessions and especially the location – you could see all the city from above. Each year one of the most important thing at ITCamp is socialization – meeting people from different parts of the world, discover what they are doing and what are the trends of the IT industry. This year I had the opportunity to be invited as a speaker at ITCamp. Last year I talked about background task on Windows 8, but this year I decided to go on the cloud and talk about messaging pattern and how we can implement those patterns using Windows Azure Service...

These Saturday all over the world Windows Azure Bootcamp took place. Of course we had to put Cluj-Napoca on the map – because of this we organize this event in Cluj also.  All the people that participate had the opportunity to discover and use Windows Azure. At every session there where around 40 people. There were 3 different sessions that explain how we can work with Service Bus, Mobile Services and how we can monitor our cloud applications. At the end of the post you can find my session slides.

You should book in your calendar May 23st and May 24st. Why? There will be the 3th edition of ITCamp in Cluj-Napoca. This is the largest premium conference that is focused on Microsoft technologies in Romania. During these two days there will be 3 different tracks: Private & Public Cloud, Development & Mobile and Architecture & Best Practices. You will find extremely interesting subject on every track.
